About Metronome Online
Made with love for rhythm · Free, forever
What we're here for
Metronome Online exists for one reason: to give any musician a metronome that is accurate, free and available wherever you are — the practice room, the stage, or a lesson on a laptop. No downloads, no account. Open the browser and hold the tempo.
Whether you play guitar, piano, drums or violin, or you produce electronic music, tempo is the thing everything else sits on. So we built a tool that respects your practice time and never gets in the way.
Why we built it
As musicians we got tired of metronome apps that were bloated, inaccurate, or locked behind a subscription. Most of them drift out of timing after a few minutes, bury the basic controls in menus, or stop working exactly when you need them.
So we built Metronome Online on the Web Audio API for sample-accurate, drift-free timing, and gave it the look and feel of a real studio tool. It runs entirely in your browser, works offline as a Progressive Web App, and stores your preferences locally — nothing is sent to a server.
What you get
- Sample-accurate timing — a Web Audio clock that holds from 20 to 300 BPM without drift
- Tap tempo — hit T to lock onto any track in seconds
- Speed trainer — raises the BPM automatically every N bars so you can build speed gradually
- Rest trainer — mutes the click for a few bars and tests your internal clock
- Stage mode — high-contrast fullscreen for rehearsal and live playing (F)
- 281 tempo pages — every BPM from 20 to 300 has its own shareable metronome at /en/bpm/
- 16 tempo markings — from Larghissimo to Prestissimo, explained in our Tempo Guide
- Works anywhere — desktop, phone, tablet; add it to your home screen and practise offline
How it stays free
Metronome Online is free and will stay free. We may run light, non-intrusive advertising at some point to cover hosting and development — never during the click, and never as an interstitial that interrupts a practice session.
It's built with modern open web technology — Astro and Tailwind CSS — and we think essential practice tools should be available to everyone regardless of budget or device.
